How often have you had an action that needs done; a bill to pay, a card to buy, or a random idea pop up into your thoughts only to forget about it and then have it return in the shower, in the middle of the night, or ,the worst feeling, after it needed to be done?!
I touched on this in a post this week about doing a brain dump before starting your weekly planning and felt it deserved more!
You might be wondering what the heck is a brain dump!
It's where you take everything that's rolling around in your head; thoughts, ideas, tasks that need done and get them out of your head and onto paper so you can STOP thinking about them and pulling your attention away from your focus.
And it's also a great place to add all those sticky notes, scraps of paper, and quick notes on your phone so they're all in one place!
I LOVE using this weekly (and daily) routine to really help get my priorities lined up!
Once everything is on paper and I can see all the different tasks and can then batch like items together and also decide if something isn't important or a priority.
I also have really grown to love this practise for the simple fact that it gets everything out of my head and thoughts! I don't find myself having the same thought popping up over and over because it hasn't been addressed. And now I don't even wait for a new Sunday to add something to the list, as soon as i finish my planning on Sunday I start my new list for the following week! When something comes to mind or I need to remember a task to do I add it to the new list.
